AlertBoot Integrates Microsoft BitLocker Endpoint Encryption Management Tool Into AlertBoot Cloud

AlertBoot has successfully integrated BitLocker drive encryption to its cloud-managed endpoint disk encryption service, creating a comprehensive endpoint security platform that can natively secure smartphones, tablet computers, and Windows-based computers.

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (PR Newswire – October 8, 2014) -- AlertBoot, a leading provider of mobile device management and full disk encryption managed services, is announcing today that the company has incorporated the ability to manage Windows devices that are secured with BitLocker, Microsoft's native disk encryption software.

Many disk encryption providers face problems as the PC industry transitions to UEFI and GPT. The lack of OEM standardization when implementing these technologies causes FDE installations to fail or work haphazardly.

"The main advantage of using the FIPS-validated BitLocker is its 'native' nature to the OS," noted Tim Maliyil, founder and CEO of AlertBoot. "It's a powerful data protection solution but its true value lies in its low installation error rates, a fact that busy sys admins can appreciate. BitLocker's integration into AlertBoot will appeal to companies that require a comprehensive centrally-managed security solution with the ability for setting password policies, powerful integrated reports, key management and backup, and remote installation and management."

If not using BitLocker, a typical workaround to the problem of failed encryption installations is to delay the transition to newer operating systems. However, this approach has its own problems, like facing unnecessary software security risks or dealing with new hardware purchases.

The addition of BitLocker management to AlertBoot minimizes such problems. AlertBoot already includes the ability to install and manage encryption on Windows Vista and Windows 7, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android OS, making it an effective solution for BYOD work environments. The integration of BitLocker management will allow AlertBoot clients to secure laptops that use Microsoft's latest OS.

With AlertBoot, users of BitLocker drive encryption will enjoy these extra security features:

  • Remote wipe of encrypted machines.
  • Backup of encryption keys to the AlertBoot cloud to prevent loss of data and other contingencies.
  • Leverage the use of TPM hardware, when available, to securely store keys on encrypted endpoint machines.
  • Provide cloud-based management and key escrow of BitLocker protected machines, a feature that is unavailable elsewhere.

In addition, the powerful AlertBoot reporting engine is an excellent solution for businesses that need endpoint security status updates for auditing and monitoring to keep on top of potential security incidents. The reporting engine has already proven effective when clients require documented evidence of encryption, a common requirement under data security laws and regulations.
